Getting started with JoinerKit: your first job, step by step

Updated 30 October 2026

JoinerKit takes a job from the tape measure to the saw. You draw what you're making to the wall, and the cutting list, sheet layouts, cost and customer quote all come from that one drawing, so they can't disagree.

This is the order that works best for a first job.

Step by step

  1. Put in your prices

Open Materials at the top of the page. Your account starts with a list of common boards, timber and fittings for your country: type what you pay for the ones you use. The Getting started box on the Jobs list shows which prices a new job needs.

  2. Add your business

In Settings, Your business, add your business name, contact details and the terms you put on quotes. They're printed on every quote.

  3. Start a job and draw the room

Press New job. It opens on the room screen: pick the shape nearest the room, type each wall's length and the ceiling height as you measured them, then press Start designing.

  4. Add the units

Press Add and pick a bookcase, wardrobe, base cupboard, chest of drawers or another unit. It goes on the wall in view. Drag it into place and drag the dots round it to size it, or type its sizes in the panel.

  5. Fill in the inside

Tap a unit to open its settings: shelves, dividers, doors, drawers, the boards it's made of and its shape. Tap it again to pick one shelf, space or door inside it.

  6. Check the cutting list and cost

Open the Cutting & cost tab beside the drawing: what to buy, the cutting list for each board and timber, the sheet layouts and the total. Anything missing, such as a price, is listed there with a button to put it right.

  7. Add your labour and make the quote

On the Job tab, under Your own extras, add your labour, profit and anything else you price yourself. Then press Quote for a page to print or save as a PDF, with the drawing, 3D pictures and one price.

Where things are

  • Along the top of every page: Jobs, Materials and Settings, What's new, Ask (Pro), and your photo, which opens Profile, Help and Send feedback.
  • Inside a job: the views (Front, Side, Plan and 3D), the wall buttons above the drawing, and the panel beside it with three tabs: Items, Job, and Cutting & cost.
  • Top right of a job: Share, Workshop and Quote. On a phone they're together under Send or print.
  • Undo and Redo are in the tools row, or press Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y.

Try it before you sign up

You can try the designer with two ready-made jobs and no sign-up: change them, turn them round in 3D and see them priced. Nothing is saved. When you're ready, start free.

Questions

Does JoinerKit work out my labour?

No. It works out the materials: boards, timber, glass and fittings, at your prices. You add labour, profit and anything else as your own extras on the Job tab, so the price on the quote is yours.

How many jobs can I have for free?

One, with every design tool, the cutting list, costs, quote and workshop sheets. Pro gives you as many as you like.

Can I undo a mistake?

Yes. Use the Undo and Redo buttons, or Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y.
