Joinery goes on the wall like a unit and is cut from the lengths of timber you buy, so it's on the cutting list and priced with everything else.
Step by step
Add it
Press Add and pick it: Window, Door, Skirting, Wall panelling, Stud wall / media wall, Pergola, Loose timber, or Bed, Ladder or Frame. A window or door asks you to choose its style first.
Put it in place
It goes on the wall in view. Drag it into place, or type where it is in its Where it is section.
Set its sizes and timber
Its card in the panel has the essentials first, then a section for each part, and the timber each part is cut from.
Doors and windows
Choose a door's look, or a window's style: casements, sashes, arched, apex and pointed heads, Gothic and sunburst glazing bars, and glazed French or patio doors. Each carries its own architrave (both sides of the wall for a door), and a window has its board, horns and how far it's set into the wall. Glass is listed by size: give a window a price per square metre to cost it.
Skirting and architrave
Skirting runs along the walls at the floor, stopping at doors, floor units and fireplaces; its card lists the walls it covers. Architrave goes round each door and window. Both are cut from the lengths you buy, and a corner that isn't square gets its saw angle on the cutting list. See skirting and architrave: how much do I need?
Panelling, stud walls and media walls
- Wall panelling: picture frames, shaker or boards, along each stretch of wall, with or without a top rail.
- Stud walls: studs at your spacing between plates, rows of noggins, and openings for doors, windows and recesses framed with headers.
- Media walls: a stud wall with a slatted face, cut short round its recesses. The guide to stud wall spacing covers the setting out.
Beds, loft frames and pergolas
- Bed: built round the mattress, single to super king, or a bunk with guard rails and a ladder; headboards and footboards in slats, boards or spindles.
- Frame: posts and rails to your own shape, with platforms (several, for a bunk), boarding and a ladder, for loft beds and the like.
- Pergola: posts, beams, rafters, slats and braces, each from its own timber.
- Loose timber: battens and anything else you need cut from your lengths.
Questions
Are bunk beds checked against the safety standard?
No. The cutting list says so: check the guard rails, gaps and ladder against the standard yourself.
Is the glass priced?
Yes, by area, from the price per square metre on each window. Without one it's listed as a missing price.
