Using JoinerKit in inches, and in America or Australia

Updated 30 October 2026

JoinerKit works in millimetres, centimetres or inches, in six currencies, and in British, American or Australian words. Sizes are kept exactly, so switching only changes how they're shown.

Step by step

  1. Open the settings

Open Settings, then Country, money and sizes.

  2. Choose your country

United Kingdom, United States and Canada, or Australia and New Zealand. It sets the words the app uses and the standard materials it offers.

  3. Choose your money and sizes

Money in: pounds, euros, or US, Australian, Canadian or New Zealand dollars. Sizes shown in: millimetres, centimetres or inches.

  4. Choose the step

Moves in steps of sets how far things move when you drag them or press the arrow keys. A quarter inch suits inches.

In America

The words follow: countertop, baseboard, casing, toe kick, cabinet, closet rod, cut list, lumber, slides and edge banding. With sizes in inches, timber is priced per foot and glass per square foot. A new account in America starts in inches, with an American materials list.

In Australia

The words follow: benchtop, kickboard, nogging and window sill. A new account in Australia starts with an Australian materials list and 450 mm stud spacing.

Prices

Amounts are never converted between currencies: you type prices in your own money in Materials, and the quote shows the same currency.

Questions

Will switching to inches change my sizes?

No. Sizes are kept exactly as they are; only how they're shown changes. Switch back any time.

Is there a materials list for my country?

There are lists for the UK, for the United States and Canada, and for Australia and New Zealand. Pick the nearest and change any item, size or price in Materials.

Can I change the units without opening Settings?

Yes. From laptop width, the line under the drawing has a Sizes in mm button (and Moves in steps) that changes them in place.
